Behavior Management: An Alternative to Sedation Dentistry

At The Little Royals, we always want to do what is best for you and your child, and ensure that everyone who visits our office has a positive experience. While we offer sedation options for patients of all ages, we also focus on behavior management techniques to help children overcome fears, understand dentistry, and empower them to care for the future of their smiles.

Whether your little one is nervous and fearful, or you would simply like to encourage learning and understanding, we can help with behavior management!

Our Approach to Behavior Management

Sedation is not always the right option for your child. When possible, Dr. Sal and Dr. Yasi do their best to avoid using sedatives in favor of using non-pharmacological behavior management techniques. Behavior management techniques include speaking to your little one about their teeth in a way that they will understand and verbally preparing them for every step of their treatment. This helps your child feel more in control of the situation and makes them less likely to be nervous.

In addition, through conversation and immersive dentistry techniques — like the Tell Show Do method and voice control — Dr. Yasi and Dr. Sal can help keep your child’s behavior under control and distract them from the procedure.

Highly Personalized Care

Whether you’re visiting with your toddler or your teenager, Dr. Sal and Dr. Yasi are personable and enthusiastic. We communicate with children of all ages in a way that they will understand and appreciate. Our unique approach is meant to instill confidence in your child and empower them to take charge of their own dental health. Whether that means teaching proper brushing and flossing technique or explaining cavities and decay, we will always keep you and your child informed every step of the way.
